The flag is a vertical triband, orange-white-orange with a black octagonal form in the white stripe, composed of two interlocking black square outlines, and a yellow disk inside them.
The "Partiya Azadiya Kurdistanê (PAK)" (Kurdistan Freedom Party) was
established by a former member of the Iranian People's
Fedayee Guerrilla ) in May 1991 as the Revolutionaries' Union of Kurdistan.
In a congress held between 10 and 12 October 2006 in Erbil, the group adopted
its current name.
Its armed wing is the Kurdistan National Army (Kurdish: Sipay Mîllî Kurdistan,
SMK), and was
previously also known under the names Kurdistan Freedom Eagles
for East Kurdistan (HKR-R) and PAK Eagles. Commonly they're known as "PAK
Peshmerga."
